At the essence of Super Bowl LX, this is another championship game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. In 2015, the Seahawks and Patriots met in the Super Bowl and played one of the most competitive games in the championship’s history. Ultimately, That game ended with a controversial play-call by the Pete Carroll-led Seahawks on the goal line that resulted in Patriots defensive back Malcolm Butler intercepting a slant to seal the victory for the Patriots. However, this game carries more weight than just a rematch of a historically significant championship game; it is also the Diamond Anniversary of the Super Bowl. In addition, the NFL is stepping back into the cultural controversy spotlight by having Spanish-speaking artist Bad Bunny perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. This combination of factors should make Super Bowl LX one of the most memorable games in the Super Bowl’s legacy.

10. Seattle Reverses The “Butler” Interception

Very few Super Bowl moments have become a regular part of NFL fans’ conversations several years after they occurred. However, Malcolm Butler’s interception of Russell Wilson’s pass at the goal line in 2015, when the Seahawks had an opportunity to win the game with a touchdown, has never left the spotlight of even casual NFL fans. The controversy revolves around the Seahawks’ decision to pass the ball in the goal-line situation, rather than hand the ball off to running back Marshawn Lynch. Lynch averaged 4.3 yards/carry against the Patriots in that game, and earlier in the game, Lynch had scored a 3-yard touchdown in a similar situation. However, had the Seahawks completed the pass, the outcome would have been just another Super Bowl win, but instead, it became a pop culture moment for the NFL.

9. Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show Unites The USA

In a time of social unrest and political division, the NFL has scheduled Bad Bunny, the “King of Latin Trap,” to perform at the Super Bowl as the halftime show. While NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has made it clear he is excited to have Bad Bunny perform, another group in our country will hold a separate halftime show. However, when Bad Bunny hits the “Monaco” portion of the show and brings out Cardi B and Rosalia as special guests, the country will suddenly become reunited. For the NFL, this is another step towards building a positive relationship with global markets, and an opportunity for the halftime performance to feature a performer who performs entirely in Spanish.

8. Drake Maye Leads Both Teams In Rushing

During the 2025 season, Drake Maye unleashed his ability to move out of the pocket and pick up valuable yards, extending drives for the Patriots’ offense. In this matchup in the Super Bowl, Maye will have to contend with the ferocious pass rush of the Seattle Seahawks. Because of necessity, Maye will need to get out of the pocket to extend plays, and at times, he will need to run the ball with his passing threats covered downfield. The question will be, how much will Maye have to run? No matter who wins the game, Maye will need to contribute a significant amount of rushing yards, likely surpassing 80+ rushing yards. Consequently, Maye will outrush Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III and the Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson.

7. The First-Ever “Scorigami” In a Super Bowl

This year’s Super Bowl matchup between the Patriots and Seahawks features two top-four scoring defenses and two offenses that hang their hats on efficiency. Those offensive and defensive matchups could neutralize one another in this game, with unexpected scoring plays determining the Super Bowl winner. That could be a decisive safety, a defensive touchdown to decide the game, or an unexpected special teams play. Ultimately, this particular matchup gives this Super Bowl a high probability of featuring a “Scorigami” by the end of the game, a score never seen before in NFL history.

6. A Defensive Lineman Scores a Touchdown

Seahawks head coach Mike McDonald consistently implements chaotic defensive schemes that can lead opposing offenses to turn the ball over. On the other hand, the New England Patriots have scored several defensive touchdowns on their road to the Super Bowl this season. The ability of both defenses to force turnovers is superior to that of any previous Super Bowl matchup. That means the probability that a Seahawks or Patriots defensive lineman will score a defensive touchdown in this game, and that could mean the difference between winning and losing in this close matchup.

5. Kenneth Walker III Wins Super Bowl MVP

Traditionally, the Super Bowl MVP is the quarterback of the team that wins the Super Bowl. However, there are past games in which a non-quarterback made a significant impact and ended up being the Super Bowl MVP. This year, Kenneth Walker III has an opportunity to be the next non-quarterback to be the MVP of the Super Bowl. If the Seattle Seahawks struggle to protect quarterback Sam Darnold, Darnold will need to throw to his check-down option, and in Klint Kubiak’s offense, Wallker is usually that check-down option. Walker has considerable play potential, and if he consistently gets the ball in space against the Patriots, he is likely to gain over 120 yards of total offense and score multiple touchdowns. Walker will be the first running back since Terrell Davis to be the MVP of the Super Bowl.

4. Rashid Shaheed Returns A Kickoff For A TD

Explosive special teams plays have powered the Seattle Seahawks run to the Super Bowl this season. In addition, Seahawks wide receiver and kick returner Rashid Shaheed has already produced a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown during the postseason this year. It would not be surprising for Shaheed to produce a game-breaking play on special teams for the Seahawks in the 2nd half of the game. Shaheed can produce a kickoff return for a touchdown with the longest return in NFL history. If Shaheed can deliver that type of performance on the biggest stage in the NFL, everyone will understand why the Seahawks paid a premium price to add this explosiveness to their roster.

3. Drake Maye Breaks the Rookie Sack Record

The New England Patriots have returned to the Super Bowl on the back of second-year quarterback Drake Maye. While Maye’s performance this season has been historically significant, he has a chance to break a record that is much less prestigious. Maye has taken 15 sacks during the Patriots’ postseason run this year before the Super Bowl. In this game, Maye will have to face Seattle’s “Darkside” defense that leads the league in quarterback pressure rate. If Maye takes six or more sacks in this game, Maye will break the NFL postseason record for sacks taken by a quarterback in NFL history.

2. Jaxon Smith-Njigba Smashes 150-Yards

While the Patriots’ cornerback Christian Gonzalez is a Pro Bowler, he will likely have a challenging time getting his hands on Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Smith-Njigba’s versatility makes him extremely difficult for NFL defenses to defend consistently, as he does not have to line up exclusively at wide receiver. The Seattle star receiver has consistently shown that he can be a big-time playmaker anywhere in the Seahawks formations. If Seattle uses Smith-Njigba as a slot receiver, the Patriots will not be able to guarantee a matchup between the Seahawks star and Gonzalez. That ability to make Smith-Njigba a moving target for the Patriots defense to hit could free up Smith-Njigba to produce over 150 receiving yards in this game.

1. Darnold’s Ghosts Busted With 4 Touchdowns

Mandatory Credit: Jim Dedmon-Imagn Images

On the biggest stage in the NFL, Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold will have to face the team that initially made him “see ghosts” while playing for the New York Jets. However, this time, Darnold is a much more experienced quarterback who has refined his fundamentals and decision-making processes. Ultimately, Darnold has the most to gain personally by showing up and playing the best football of his career against the Patriots. If Darnold can own the moment and throw multiple touchdowns to lead the Seahawks to another Super Bowl victory, he will officially “bust the ghosts” that haunted him for the first half of his NFL career.
