Week 12 Thursday Night Football – Four BEST Picks

Credit Football Analysis

Another matchup between two bitter rivals is coming to Thursday night. Steelers, Browns, two defensive beasts duking it out. Both of these teams play a very specific brand of football, and for that reason, we’ve got a good read on what the plays are. Let’s take a look at four of the best plays for Thursday night.

Pat Freiermuth – Over 18.5 Receiving Yards

Pat Freiermuth is one of those tight ends. When I think of the concept of a “tight end”, Pat Freiermuth is the first name that comes to mind. Freiermuth is always good for a couple receptions, a couple dozen yards, and seven fantasy points. Luckily, the line of 18.5 receiving yards has been cleared in 7 of the 10 games the Steelers have played. On top of that, the Browns just gave up 130 yards to TEs last week against the Saints, so it isn’t too hard to believe they’ll be too busy game planning around Najee getting those quick checkdowns rather than Freiermuth.

Pat Freiermuth over 18.5 receiving yards is our first play. A good, safe, reliable tight end is just the guy we want to make some money from.

Najee Harris – Over 49.5 Rushing Yards

Najee Harris was always hard to get a read on. However, this season I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Najee. That three game run where he cleared 100 rushing yards was very impressive, and he’s looking to be the back we all thought he was a few years ago. That being said, I think the 49.5 rushing yard line is one he can easily clear. He’s already hit this in eight out of ten games this season; the only two he missed this were against the Colts where he was splitting carries with Fields and Cordarrelle Patterson (in the big year 2024) and the Cowboys, where the Steelers only had 226 total yards of offense. This is also against a Browns defense that’s allowed 131 rushing yards per game.

Najee Harris should have no problem clearing the over on 49.5 rushing yards. Expect Najee to get fed this Thursday.

David Njoku – Over 6.5 Targets

Another reliable tight end, David Njoku has the third most yards from scrimmage on the Browns, and that’s in seven games. He’s cleared this line in five of these seven games, the only two he didn’t clear it was in his first two games. His best game in terms of targets was a 14 target game against another division rival in the Bengals. The best part about this line, even if Njoku is getting a lot of defensive attention, as long as he keeps getting targeted, we’ll clear.

David Njoku over 6.5 targets is another safe play for this rivalry game.

Nick Chubb – Over 3.0 Rushing + Receiving First Downs

Nick Chubb is a beast that I think stays under the radar due to the time he misses with injuries. That doesn’t stop him though. Even if he’s had a slow transition back to playtime (only playing four games and getting 53 rushes), he’s still got 8 first downs and a respectable 163 yards. Is this the game we really see Nick Chubb back in action? This is gonna be a sloppy game, that’s just how these teams play (especially each other), so to have a big back that can clean up on those short yardage situations is just what the Browns will need, especially against a defense as scary as the Steelers. This doesn’t even take into account the receiving aspect of this. Maybe he’ll snag a couple checkdowns from a shaken Jameis Winston.

Nick Chubb over 3.0 rushing and receiving first downs is the final play for this Thursday night clash between two huge rivals.
