While we had a wild card weekend full of blowouts and disappointing results (except Tampa Bay – Washington, thank you for being entertaining), the divisional round is looking to serve us up some fantastic matchups. Let’s look at the four best plays for this Saturday’s games.
Travis Kelce – Over 52.5 Receiving Yards
Do I really need to introduce Travis Kelce? A player so ubiquitous you could ask your grandmother what number he wears and she’d respond in a flash, Kelce seems to rarely disappoint in the playoffs. Four years in a row he’s had at least 20+ receptions in the playoffs (5 years if you round up 2019’s 19 receptions), and he’s one of those tight ends that just is always open. While he’s had a pretty up and down regular season, he’s still cleared the line eight times, and I don’t expect him to miss a beat in the Chiefs’ first game in this year’s playoffs.
Travis Kelce over 52.5 receiving yards is our first play.
C.J. Stroud – Under 249.5 Passing Yards
While there’s no doubting the fact that C.J. Stroud is a great QB, this year’s performance from him is nowhere near where he was at last year. With an average of 219.2 yards per game (dropping down from 273.9 YPG last year) and the failure to hit this line last time he had to play the Chiefs, I think that looking under is the safe bet. In regular season play, he’s only cleared this line six times in his 17 games, and when you’re playing the Chiefs, Murphy’s Law goes into effect (whatever can go wrong, will go wrong). I don’t expect Stroud to be able to clear this line against the Chiefs in the divisional round.
C.J. Stroud under 249.5 passing yards is the second play for this Saturday’s slate.
Terry McLaurin – Over 49.5 Receiving Yards
I just sung Terry’s praises last week, and I’m here to do it again. With seven receptions on ten targets, 89 receiving yards, and a touchdown last week, Terry proved that he can and will show up in the playoffs. Against the Lions, who’s secondary is mainly focused on redzone defense and takeaways, he should be able to put up pretty similar stats. The Lions are 30th in passing yards allowed per game, so if Jayden Daniels wants to air it out, then they certainly can and will with a target like Terry McLaurin.
Terry McLaurin over 49.5 receiving yards is the next play for the divisional round.
Sam LaPorta – Over 50.5 Receiving Yards
LaPorta, despite dropping down from his dominant fantasy season last year, is still one of the best tight ends in football. In fact, he may have become underrated in the span of a year. He cleared this line in four of his last five games, and had an average of almost eight targets a game (7.8 to be exact) in that stretch. He also showed up in the playoffs in a major way last year, getting 21 receptions and 176 yards in his three playoff game career. I think Sam LaPorta can go off this week in the Lions’ first playoff game.
Sam LaPorta over 50.5 receiving yards is the final play for this Saturday.
