With the 6th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, The Las Vegas Raiders select… ASHTON JEANTY! Running Back from Boise State! This is not a drill! I repeat, this is NOT a drill! The Las Vegas Raiders drafted Running Back Ashton Jeanty yesterday in the first round!
As a Raiders fan, it is a great day to wake up and drink a cup of coffee. Ladies and Gentlemen, make sure to let everybody know that we are back. We are so back. We have never been this back before. And we still have Friday and Saturday to watch the next rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft.
For weeks and months, we saw all the possible mock drafts, chalking the Raiders into drafting Ashton Jeanty. And suddenly, for some reason, that narrative changed this past week. A smoke screen created to deviate the attention, and that generated much speculation for some days.
The notion had the Las Vegas Raiders drafting either Kelvin Banks Jr., Left Tackle from The Texas Longhorns or Armand Membou, Right Tackle from The Missouri Tigers. Both great players that will become cornerstones for The New Orleans Saints and New York Jets, respectively.
After dissipating all the smoke, we all saw NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announcing the pick yesterday. And boy, it felt so sweet. The Raiders drafted whose arguably the best Running Back prospect in the entire 2025 NFL Draft and will add a much-needed boost to this offense.
Jeanty’s described to be the total package Running Back. He has elite vision and contact balance, while also having the most broken tackles, with a total of 106 just this past season. His elusiveness is one of his great weapons when finding the right hole to attack when running the football.
While he was not used as much as a receiving weapon, that does not mean he can not do it. He was a Wide Receiver through much of his High School career before changing to a Running Back for his Senior Year. We know Offensive Coordinator Chip Kelly will use him in many different ways.
He was born on December 2nd, 2003 in Jacksonville, Florida. Jeanty comes from a military background from his father’s side and lived in Naples, Italy before returning to the U.S. to attend Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas. Where he rushed for 1,843 yards and 41 Touchdowns as a Senior!
He committed to the Boise State Broncos to play in the Mountain West College Football Conference and never looked back, literally. He has the second most rushing yards in a single season for a Running Back in College Football history with 2,601. Only Barry Sanders surpasses him with 2,628 rushed yards.
In a total of 3 years as a Boise State Bronco, Ashton Jeanty had 750 carries for 4,769 yards and 50 Touchdowns. He also had 80 receptions for 862 yards and 6 Touchdowns. Giving us a grand total of 830 touches for 5,631 yards and 56 Touchdowns in 40 played games!
In an average for a season, we get 276.66 touches for 1,877 yards and 18.67 Touchdowns. Per game, we get 20.75 touches for 140.775 yards and 1.4 Touchdowns. And no, those are NOT Madden stats. Our boy is just that good, you know?
Some of his college accolades are the Maxwell, Doak Walker and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose awards. He was a Unanimous and First-Team All American, while also being 2 times First-Team and Offensive Player for the Mountain West College Football Conference. Oh, and he is the 2025 Heisman Runner-Up.
He is now projected to be RB1 in a room that has Raheem Mostert, Zamir White, Sincere McCormick, Isaiah Spiller, Dylan Laube, and Chris Collier. With of course many changes happening through the draft, free agency and training camp leading to the start of the season in September.
It is safe to say that we are excited and in good hands to see this Chip Kelly led offense. And now, Raider Nation, we wait for the next rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. This can become a foundational year for seasons to come.
