The Pittsburgh Steelers Really Could Have Another Winning Season

The NFL just released the 2025 schedule and the Steelers have quite an interesting situation. With an early bye in week 5 of the season, the team has to go on a run for 3 months. Mike Tomlin and his team have never had a losing season. The QB room they are rocking with this year seems like this is finally the season to most people. I wouldn’t be so fast to assume that though. Pittsburgh has had winning seasons for a reason. This schedule has a ton of winnable games, so I wouldn’t be shocked to see them do it again.

Probable Wins – NYJ, NE, SEA, CLE, MIA, & IND

The Steelers’ Schedule doesn’t start off too bad with 3 straight games that I think are really winnable. Facing against weak O-lines in the Jets, Seahawks, then Patriots. This give their defense a real shot at carrying the games on their back. Sure this team offensively won’t do much outside of pounding the rock, but all they need is something small to work with. We’ve seen this team win games with Kenny Pickett, Mitchel Trubisky, Mason Rudolph, Devlin Hodges, and more at the helm. Tomlin and company win games for a reason and that’s the defense. Any game with a weak offensive line or a QB that’s untrustworthy will give Pittsburgh the edge in my opinion. I think these 7 games (faces CLE twice) the Steelers can win 6 of them if not all 7 if the defense gets the job done like usual.

Toss Up Games – LAC, GB, BAL, CHI & CIN

Now I know that Baltimore and Cincinnati are both ten times better than the Steelers on paper. That being said, when it comes to the divisional games, Pittsburgh can sneak wins. Excluding last year’s wild card matchup the Steelers have won 5 of the last 7 matchups against the Ravens. I don’t expect them to win all 4 or even split with both teams. What I do think will happen is they will win 1 of the 4 games against those two which is all they need to stay afloat. Green Bay, Chicago, and LA are just games I’m not confident in giving to either team. The Chargers weapons always find a way to sell Herbert and Jordan Love can be very hot and cold. Caleb Williams and the Bears should also be the better team on paper, but I don’t trust that O-line or young QB 100% yet. If the offenses of these teams are doing nothing I am going to favor T.J. Watt and the D to be the best unit out there.

Probable Loses – MIN, BUF, & DET

There isn’t much explaining that needs to be done when it comes to these match ups. All three of these teams are just on a complete other tier of awesome compared to Pittsburgh. The Steelers should and probably will get demolished in these three games. Facing arguably the best team in the NFC with the Lions. The most shockingly good team last year in the Vikings. Then also facing the MVP of the whole league Josh Allen. Barring any crazy trap game or injury this should be a swift 0-3 record for the Steelers. The offense can’t keep up and the defense can only do so much against immense talent like this.

Mike Tomlin is a coach that seems to raise the floor of his Steeler teams. At the same time it feels like the last month of the season is always a huge struggle for him. I would love to see this team lose a lot of games and get a real QB in the 2026 draft. Knowing Pittsburgh though, it won’t happen. This team can upset a couple of decent to good teams. On the other side they also can really choke away easy wins. That’s why I can see the Steelers going a solid 9-8 this year, just barely missing the wild card round. Pittsburgh has a schedule that really isn’t too bad when you think about it. If they don’t choke the winnable games, and can steal a couple from the better teams, Tomlin’s streak will leave. Whether that’s for the best of the team or not is still up in the air.
