As all of us fans sit here in the depths of the off-season, bored out of our minds and pretending to care about baseball or golf, the peak of the NFL season is nothing but a distant mirage. At this rate, any football would peak our interest, even if it was between two terrible teams like the Giants and Saints. Although football may seem distant now in late May, before we know it we will be back within the folds of the NFL season. And when that time comes, there are many exciting games to look forward to, leaving us with no need to watch bottom-feeders compete. Without further ado, these are the 5 most exciting games of the 2025 season.

5. Chiefs Vs Eagles, Week 2

Of course, the long-awaited rematch of both Super Bowl LVIII and LIX had to be somewhere on this list. In the final game of the 2024 season, the Eagles blew out the Chiefs on the world’s biggest stage, exposing glaring flaws in Kansas City’s usually impenetrable armor. Even though KC mostly kept  2024 offensive player of the year Saquon Barkley in check, Jalen Hurts was still able to vanquish the defending champs through the air, earning Super Bowl MVP honors. In week 2 of this season, these two juggernauts will square off, with Kansas City looking for revenge with the return of star wide receiver Rashee Rice.

4. Commanders Vs Broncos, Week 13

This week 13 Sunday night football showdown may have gone under the radar of some in terms of being an exciting game, but it promises fireworks as two of the best young Quarterbacks in the league do battle under the bright lights. Bo Nix and Jayden Daniels were both frontrunners for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award last season, with Daniels eventually winning after completely turning around the Commanders’ franchise, leading them to 12 wins and a playoff berth. These two teams last squared off back in 2023, when Russell Wilson completed a potentially game-tying hail mary to Brandon Johnson with zeroes on the clock, just to miss the two-point conversion moments later. Although these two franchises are in completely different places two seasons after that game, this matchup should be just as exciting.

3. Bengals Vs Ravens, Weeks 13 and 15

This might count as cheating since this game technically happens twice in the 2025 regular season, but I couldn’t leave it off the list as this matchup is the only division rivalry in football where two top-5 quarterbacks square off twice a year. In the 2024 season, these two games ended up being two of the most exciting in the entire season. The game in Cincinnati was won by the Ravens 41-38 in overtime after Derrick Henry’s massive game-clinching run, and the game in Baltimore on Thursday night ended with a score of 35-34 after the Bengals went for two and the win after their final score, and ended up failing to convert. It should be noted that the Bengals-Ravens game in Baltimore, this year placed on Thanksgiving night, has been on primetime for three straight seasons, while the game in Cincinnati is again in the early Sunday slot, leaving some Bengals fans frustrated with the schedule-makers. Regardless, barring the ever-present possibility of quarterback injury, these two games look to be just as exciting as last season.

2. Bills Vs Ravens, Week 1

A square-off between the two MVP frontrunners from last season had to be near the top of the list. A divisional round rematch of last season’s game, this battle of elite quarterbacks will kick off NBC’s Sunday Night Football in week 1 this season. Last time these two teams met, it ended in a nail-biting 27-25 victory for Buffalo after Ravens’ Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews dropped the game-tying two-point conversion. As two of the top contenders in the AFC, this game could end up having massive ramifications later down the line in terms of conference seeding, potentially even deciding the coveted #1 seed and first-round bye.

1. Bengals Vs Lions, Week 5

The number one spot on this list goes to a game that I also believe is being criminally overlooked this season in terms of its potential as an all-timer. We have yet to see the current iterations of the Lions and Bengals play against each other, as they last played in 2021 during the Lions’ rebuild, ending in a 34-11 beatdown by Cincy. However, these are not the same old lions, and they look to have another explosive season with Jared Goff continuing to lead the well-oiled machine that is the Detroit Lions offense. However, Joe Burrow and the Bengals’ dynamic receiving duo won’t go down easily, meaning this should be a high-scoring game with lots of fireworks. It’s honestly a shame that this game isn’t on prime time, as this should be an electric showdown.
