Does Justin Fields deserve immediate competition? This article breaks down the ideal outcome of the 2025 NFL Draft for the New York Jets. There will not be trades involved; however, if a trade-back is ideal, it will absolutely be mentioned along with a potential target.

Round One (7th Overall) Dream Target: Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

After having Penei Sewell, how can Aaron Glenn ignore right tackle?

No, that is not the comparison, but it is the premise for this pick. Right tackle is vacant in New York. If Fields (or whoever is playing quarterback) is going to succeed, a completed offensive line is key.

The Missouri product is a freak athlete that pairs well with Olu Fashanu. The dynamic duo could bookend the line for the next decade.

It is safe to say that Jets fans have been desperate to complete their line. Membou is the final puzzle piece.

Round Two (42nd Overall) Dream Target: Tyleik Williams, DI, Ohio State

Unlike other articles for this series, this mock draft is staying pretty tame.

That is because the realistic options are arguably the best! Talk about a breath of fresh air.

Williams brings a high-floor option for Glenn to use as a run defender. The awesome aspect of this pick is the pass-rush ceiling. Ohio State has shown little development with their DI’s in this department. That issue sounds like an opportunity for a defense-savvy coach.

Pair up the Ohio State product with Quinnen Williams and watch the fireworks.

Round Three (73rd Overall) Dream Target: Kevin Winston Jr., SAF, Penn State

The safety corps is weak.

Andre Cisco cannot hold the fort on his own. He needs some help. Kevin Winston Jr. is getting round-two buzz, but an early-season-ending knee injury could push him to round three.

Comparisons to Derwin James have been thrown out, valid or not. The Penn State product pops off as a contributor and athlete.

If healthy, Winston will be a massive asset.

Round Four (110th Overall) Dream Target: Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Bowling Green

Outside of offensive line, tight end is a quarterback’s best friend.

Fields had Darnell Washington and Pat Freiermuth in Pittsburgh. It is safe to say that Jeremy Ruckert is a downgrade.

Fannin has gotten the ‘prospect fatigue’ treatment. Sure, he is not an insane athlete, but watch the tape! The Bowling Green star dominated against everyone. Even Texas A&M and Penn State could not stop this superstar from getting over 100 yards.

When a team focuses on stopping a weapon, and that weapon still dominates, bet on them. Bet on Fannin.

Round Five (145th Overall) Dream Target: Nohl Williams, CB, Cal

Brandon Stephens is corner two on the boundary.

It is obvious that there needs to be competition. Williams is a prototypically built corner with crazy potential. His press ability stacks up against first-round talents.

Williams lacks the consistency to be plug-and-play, but his long-term value is through the roof.

Round Five (162nd Overall) Dream Target: Craig Woodson, DB, Cal

Safety still is lacking, even with Winston.

Why not pair up the Cal DBs once again? It worked before, so it is hard to see it not work again. Combine that with Winston’s medical question marks, and this pick just makes sense.

Woodson is a dynamic athlete with amazing coverage ability. He may go as high as the third round, but he likely will slip to day three.

Round Six (186th Overall) Dream Target: Kyle McCord, QB, Syracuse

With Fields’ future a question mark, getting competition is far from off the table.

McCord lacks playmaking ability, but his arm is lively. He provides timely pinpoint precision with excellent velocity.

Talk about a dream backup to have. And, yes, McCord does have the upside to start.

Round Six (207th Overall) Dream Target: Pat Bryant, WR, Illinois

It is tough to see the Jets ignore wide receiver in this draft.

Given the weakness receiver of this class, it seemed smarter to focus on the best player at each pick.

Don’t let that degrade Bryant’s ability to make an impact, though. He is as reliable as it gets. The Illinois product brings an ‘X’ frame with rock-solid hands.

He did not test all that well, but Bryant still can shine on the boundary at the next level.
