$32.5M Seahawks Edge Rusher Considers Retirement After First Super Bowl In 12 Years

Lawrence’s potential retirement is not the only crisis heading toward the Seahawks. Boye Mafe, whose 18.7% pass‑rush win rate in 2025 ranked among the top edge rushers in the league, is an unrestricted free agent expected to sign elsewhere. Uchenna Nwosu carries a projected cap hit of roughly $20 million and faces an uncertain future with the team. That leaves Derick Hall as the only long-term edge rusher currently locked down. The Seahawks went from a championship defense to a potential pass-rush crisis in the span of one offseason. Winning the Super Bowl created the exact conditions for losing the defense that won it.

Cap Space Won’t Solve Everything

Seattle has roughly $58 million in projected cap space, sixth most in the NFL.
