The 2025 Thanksgiving Day game between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers felt like a playoff game for the NFC North teams. Both teams came into this game battling for position in the NFC North standings. The outcome hinged on their quarterbacks. Jordan Love outperformed Jared Goff, leading Green Bay to a crucial division win.
Jordan Love excelled at Ford Field, completing 18 of 30 passes for 234 yards and 4 touchdowns. He had no interceptions. Under his leadership, the Packers converted all three 4th-down attempts and scored a touchdown on every red-zone trip. The Packers’ efficient offense led Green Bay from start to finish.
Jared Goff played well, completing 20 of 26 passes for 256 yards and 2 touchdowns without interceptions. However, the Lions failed both 4th-down attempts. In addition, the Lions only scored touchdowns on two of three red-zone drives, settling for a field goal once, for a red zone touchdown percentage of 66.7%
Both quarterbacks performed well, but Goff faced additional challenges. Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons dominated Detroit’s pass protection, sacking Goff 2.5 times, including late in the 4th quarter. The Lions lost Amon-Ra St. Brown to an ankle injury, and tight end Sam LaPorta was unavailable, further hurting the offense.
