In just a few years, the Denver Broncos have transformed from AFC bottom-dwellers to conference contenders. Their uncanny ability to win games decided by a single score has been the driving factor behind this success. Last season, the Broncos went 1-6 in one-score games. This season, however, they are 8-2 in such contests.

Building on their recent one-score successes, this week, the Broncos earned their ninth straight win, edging Washington 27-26 in overtime. Denver’s defense contained the explosive Commanders. After a shaky start, the defense tightened, halting Washington on 8 of its final 10 third downs.

Throughout the game, quarterback Bo Nix and the Broncos’ offense kept pace with Washington. Although Denver failed to clinch the win in regulation, both teams scored in overtime. Ultimately, on Washington’s decisive two-point attempt, Denver linebacker Nik Bonitto deflected the pass, sealing Denver’s victory.

These consistent performances in close games highlight Denver’s resilience and build momentum for the playoffs. With elite defense and an offense focused on ball security, the Broncos are poised to continue their success in the postseason.
