Baltimore Ravens new head coach Jesse Minter does not intend to come to Baltimore and lead the Ravens through a rebuild. Minter is confident that the Ravens have the personnel that they need to become a championship team. However, Minter believes that the reason the Ravens have consistently underachieved over the last couple of seasons is a lack of continuity among the Ravens’ shareholders.

Coming into Baltimore, Minter is preaching a message of “We, believing players need to focus on the ultimate goal of winning a championship. To help deliver this message, Minter met with the current leaders of the Ravens offense and defense, Lamar Jackson and Kyle Hamilton. Both players left their meeting with Minter with positive messages about Minter’s vision for the Ravens in the “Jesse Minter” era.

From the perspective of Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton, he needs to view himself as a position-less defensive weapon rather than focus solely on being an excellent safety. Minter intends to move Hamilton around at the point of attack so that Hamilton can have the most significant impact possible for the Ravens defense. By using Hamilton in multiple roles, Minter plans to force opposing offenses to adapt to the Ravens’ defense rather than the other way around, and to build a more aggressive, connected identity on defense.

On the other hand, Minter’s meeting with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson focused on helping create a better environment for Jackson to thrive in the Baltimore offense. In addition, Minter wants to create a team identity that allows Jackson to thrive. In addition, Minter believes that by building a stronger defense, Jackson will have less pressure to score on every drive and can therefore play more within his comfort zone rather than needing to play “hero ball”.

Jesse Minter’s Plan to Raise the Standards for the Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore’s team identity will be toughness, fundamentals, and playing together. Daily, Minter will set goals and standards for the Ravens to meet to reflect their championship goals. Despite Minter’s background being on the defensive side of the ball, Minter’s vision is to ensure that there is no divide between the Ravens’ offense, defense, and special teams. In addition, Minter wants to focus on the Ravens being their best late in the season and in the postseason so that they can get over the championship hump.
