Giants make record-breaking signing among other splash additions

The New York Giants ended their 2025 campaign with another disappointing showing. They finished 4-13, fired their head coach mid-season, and wasted a heap of talent. With John Harbaugh now at the helm, the team hopes to raise their floor and develop Jaxson Dart. The first step towards a better roster comes in free agency. New York wasted no time dishing out deals, including a record-breaker, signing multiple free agents to multi-year deals and maintaining key contributors from last year.

TE Isiah Likely

Familiarity with John Harbaugh’s team building allows Likely to be ahead of schedule with his new squad. This will be his first time getting a true shot at being the starter, as he’s been behind Mark Andrews on the depth chart for his entire career. Paired with the rise of Theo Johnson, he’ll headline an offense that will specialize in 12 personnel.

LB Tremaine Edmunds

After releasing long-time LB Bobby Okereke for cap space, Tremaine Edmunds is chosen to replace his presence. Edmunds had a decent 2025 campaign, though not his best. He racked up 112 tackles, 3 TFLs, and most notably 4 interceptions. He’s consistent, reliable, and will be a good option for New York.

RT Jermaine Eluemunor

Alongside Andrew Thomas, Jermaine Eluemunor is also a very capable offensive tackle in his own right. Just last year, he posted the 20th best PFF pass block grade among tackles. He’s sturdy, effective, and guaranteed to bring stability at the line. For just $13 million a year, you could argue he’s a steal.

WR Calvin Austin III

Calvin Austin is the speedy alternative for Wan’Dale Robinson. Though John Harbaugh’s teams don’t usually optimize the slot, Austin will likely fill the role for when a Y receiver is needed. He’s a cheap option with a lot of potential.

OL Evan Neal

A surprise signing here. Evan Neal has failed to live up to his status as a first round pick. Last year, he started in just one game, and was moved from guard to tackle. John Harbaugh sees potential though, and could perhaps mold the physical specimen into a starting caliber lineman.

FB Patrick Ricard

Combining Cam Skattebo with Patrick Ricard is making up what seems to be one of the most physical backfields in the NFL. Ricard has been the unsung hero for Baltimore’s run game, and is truly and extra offensive lineman when on the field. Expect a lot of hard nosed running this upcoming year in Metlife.

K Jason Sanders

With Graham Gano consistently sidelined due to injury, the Giants had a bit of a crisis at kicker. Jason Sanders has been one of the most underrated at the position, and immediately gives the G-men more flexibility in their kicking game.

S Ar’Darius Washington

More than a year removed from a major injury, Ar’Darius Washington is the Dane Belton replacement. Another player who was with John Harbaugh in Baltimore, Washington had some bright flashes in his one year as starter. In 2024, he logged 2 INTs, 64 tackles, and 5 TFLs. When he returned from injury, he still played at a respectable level, so hopefully he keeps up that momentum with the G-men.

CB Greg Newsome

Newsome’s 2025 was one to forget. He allowed a career-worst 686 yards in coverage, 5 TDs, and 56 receptions. Nevertheless, he’s still 25 with a lot of potential. New York opts to give him a one year prove-it deal which is low risk but could bring in high rewards.

P Jordan Stout

Marking a historic deal, the final piece John Harbaugh brings in from his time in Baltimore is Jordan Stout. Stout has been one of the best punters in the league, and was arguably one of the best players on the Ravens roster last year. At an annual salary of $4.1 million a year, he becomes the highest paid punter in NFL history. He’ll round up a new special teams unit for the Giants, a point of emphasis given John Harbaugh’s past as a special teams coordinator.
