The quarterback position is one of, if not THE most important positions in all of football. We see this every year with guys like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen consistently putting their teams on their backs. This can oftentimes be true in fantasy football as well. Last year we saw the QB1, Lamar Jackson put up 25.6 Fantasy points per game, which is a whopping 10 points more than the QB15 Aaron Rodgers. This being said, drafting a top QB in your fantasy football drafts can be a real difference maker in helping you win your league. So, in this article I will be giving you my top 8 QB rankings for the 2025 fantasy football season, without further ado, let’s begin.
8. Bo Nix

Starting things off with last season’s quarterback 7, and my QB8 going into this year, I have Broncos QB, Bo Nix. It’s not that I believe the situation for Bo has gotten any worse. I actually believe it has gotten much better compared to last season, with the additions of veteran TE Evan Engram, and the pair of Rookies, RB RJ Harvey, and WR, Pat Bryant the offense could very easily take some strides forward. However, we often see what is called a “sophomore slump” with these 2nd year quarterbacks who exceed expectations in their rookie campaigns, just look at CJ Stroud for example. Although I don’t think it’s fully fair to blame Stroud for what happened with the Texans last year. It does need to be noted when considering guys going into their 2nd year.
In the 2024 season Bo threw for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He did this while also rushing for 430 yards, and 4 touchdowns. (Although it is important to note that his rushing numbers may be inflated due to the fact that the Broncos struggled to find any production in their Running backs last season.). With the additions of Rj Harvey and Jk Dobbins to this offense I expect a decrease in Bo’s rushing yards and expect him to be somewhere around the 200-300 yard mark, however I wouldn’t be too worried about the 4 rushing touchdowns going anywhere, as there will definitely be multiple opportunities for him to scramble into the endzone. I also expect the passing numbers will be pretty similar for Bo, as he has a pretty good amount of talent around him. I see a bright future ahead in the passing department.
7. Patrick Mahomes

Speaking of quarterbacks who won’t have any trouble in the passing department we have my QB7 Patirck Mahomes. Mahomes is coming off of an underwhelming season compared to previous years. Where he threw for 3,928 yards, 26 TDs, and 11 interceptions. Mahomes finished as the QB11, but I believe we will see a jump in his fantasy value this year as long as his offensive weapons can stay healthy. The Chiefs have a very talented group of pass catchers surrounding Mahomes which will lead to a good amount of passing touchdowns for Mahomes. With the speed the Chiefs have between Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy there are lots of big play opportunities for the offense. I also believe that with Andy Reid coaching this team Mahomes will always be relevant for fantasy.
6. Baker Mayfield

In terms of surrounding offensive playmakers, very few quarterbacks are as fortunate as Baker Mayfield. Baker is coming off a season where he finished as the QB4, he averaged 22.5 PPG and threw for an impressive 4,500 yards and 41 TDs, although he did also throw 16 interceptions. It may be crazy to say but I believe that there is still room for Baker to improve for fantasy. Although I don’t feel confident enough to predict Baker as a top 3 QB for fantasy in 2025 I could absolutely see it happening. The Buccaneers offense is one of the most underrated offenses in the league. With WRs Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Jalen McMillan all returning from last year and the additions of rookie WRs Emeka Egbuka and Tez Johnson through the draft, Baker has plenty of talent around him to succeed in the passing game. I am almost willing to guarantee a top 8 finish for Baker and really wouldn’t be surprised if he finished in the top 3.
5. Joe Burrow

The Cincinnati Bengals are another one of those teams who have a loaded offense going into the 2025 season. WR Ja’Marr Chase is coming off a year in which he won the triple crown, and WR Tee Higgins very well might be the best WR2 in the league. I don’t think it’s out of the question for Joe Burrow to throw for 5,000 yards in 2025. With this being said Burrow is my Qb5 for fantasy this season. As I just stated I believe to see a VERY impressive season from Burrow in the passing department. However, the lack of rushing upside from Burrow keeps him from being my QB1. Does he have all the talent around him? Yes. Is he one of the best QBs in the NFL? Yes. Is Burrow Poised to have an all-time great season? Absolutely!
4. Jayden Daniels

Just like Bo Nix, Jayden Daniels is tricky for me to predict when it comes to fantasy. Although I feel much better drafting Daniels in my fantasy leagues this season. In his rookie year Daniels already looked like a top QB. He finished as the QB5 which took many including myself by surprise. The situation around Daniels has also slightly improved. The offensive line has been heavily upgraded with the additions of veteran OT Laremy Tunsil and Rookie 1st round pick OT Josh Conerly Jr. The improvements to the offensive line should lead to more explosive plays for the commanders this season. Last year I drafted Daniels with my last pick, and I was not disappointed. Of course, you won’t find Daniels that late in drafts this year but if he falls to the 4th round you should absolutely take him.
3. Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts is one of those players who is consistently a top fantasy finisher at his position, and I don’t expect this to change in 2025. There really isn’t much to be worried about for Hurts. His Oline is one of the premier lines in the NFL, He has two great receivers in A.J Brown and Devonta Smith, and He has the best RB in the league Saquon Barkley. Not to mention that we know he will get plenty of goal line work with the Tush push (aka the brotherly shove). Hurts also has the ability to scramble and make plays with legs which is huge in terms of upside for a QB in fantasy. Outside of my QB1 and QB2 I believe Hurts is the Safest QB to draft for your fantasy team. He has a very high floor whilst also having the ceiling to finish as the QB1.
2. Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson when healthy is one of if not THE most explosive quarterback in the NFL. He is one of those guys who truly has the ability to put up 30 fantasy points in any given week. The one thing that concerns me with Lamar is the lack of playmakers around him. I personally don’t believe that Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and a washed-up DeAndre Hopkins are anything to write home about. I also expect a decline in production from Derrick Henry this year which is more cause for concern. All of this being said I still believe Lamar will finish as a top QB in fantasy. He is just simply too talented not to. It’s not unheard of to see guys with underwhelming offensive playmakers surrounding them finish highly in fantasy. It actually has been happening a lot recently. Just look at Josh Allen and Jayden Daniels last year. Not to mention Lamar himself finished as the QB1 last year with pretty much the same offense around him. Sometimes all a quarterback needs to be elite in fantasy is to be elite in real life, crazy how that works.
1. Josh Allen

Last season I got the “privilege” of playing against Josh Allen in week 14. That week Allen put up an ABSURD 51.9 fantasy points in a game the Bills lost against the Rams. The following week he “only” put up 41.3 fantasy points in a win against the Lions. I mentioned how Lamar is one of the guys who can put up 30 points any given week, but with Allen he’ll randomly stumble across 40 one week. Although it’s important to mention you’re not going to see these insane performances every week, but when they happen you will be VERY happy you drafted him. Also Similar to Lamar, Allen’s offense isn’t anything to write home about. However, the ability Josh has to make plays with his arm and his legs is more than enough to carry the Bills offense. I personally wait until around the 5th round to take my QB but if I see Josh Allen at the end of the 2nd round, I WILL be taking him.
